WHAT IS

Picture Me Reading?

Picture Me Reading teaches the 220 (+ 4 extra) Dolch high-frequency words using a visual cue embedded in each word on one side of the card.  On the reverse of each card is an auditory cue for context as well as the word with no picture.

Picture Me Reading enables students to master these vital words with fewer exposures, even before they have learned phonic decoding skills.

Our cards can be used as flashcards or adapted to any sight word activity.

Psychology Based
Reading Tool

Picture Me Reading was developed in the 1990s by teacher / educational psychologist Dr. Marlys Isaacson and was then updated in 2019. Read more on how it started.

Master High Frequency
Words With Less Effort

Picture Me Reading teaches the Dolch high frequency words using a visual cue embedded in the word, and on the reverse side the word with no visual cue but an auditory cue under the word, to provide context.
